Our lice treatment and screening services provide families with a safe, effective solution for lice removal in the comfort of their home. Because every head of hair is different, each service is approached with care and individualized attention.
Head Lice Treatment $150+*
An application of Nit Picky’s non-toxic treatment products is used to kill live lice and dissolve lice eggs (nits), followed by a thorough professional comb-out to remove all lice and nits from the hair.
For enhanced results, a heat application** is available as an optional add-on to dehydrate further and kill any remaining lice or eggs, especially helpful in severe infestations.
To ensure complete removal, we perform a final comb-through and apply an additional layer of our Eradicate Oil, a powerful, natural lice-killing formula. This added step reinforces the effectiveness of the treatment and helps guard against re-infestation.
Our method is safe, non-toxic, and highly effective in just one visit, when all after-care guidelines are followed. Children can return to school and parents can return to work the same day after a Nit Picky treatment. Guaranteed to be effective in just one lice treatment.
Head Lice Screening $30*
The most effective and guaranteed method to screen for head lice. Same-day contraction of lice can be detected. If lice or nits are discovered, a head lice treatment is recommended. The screening fee will be applied toward treatment.
Optional Heat Application Service** $25-$50
We offer an optional heat dehydration process that uses a controlled blow-dry technique at the scalp to kill underdeveloped nits. This added step targets lice eggs at the root and provides extra assurance in moderate to severe cases. Your technician will assess and determine if this add-on treatment is appropriate during your visit.
Additional Service Fees*
Since we cannot know the infestation level or hair condition until service begins, additional charges may apply. These charges ensure fair pricing based on the actual work required.
Detangle Fee $25-$50
A detangle fee will be applied if services take more than 5 minutes to remove knots. To avoid a detangle fee, please prepare the hair prior to the appointment.
Long-Thick-Curly $25-$100
Additional itemized fees will apply for long, thick, and curly hair.
Moderately Heavy To Extremely Heavy Infestations $25-$150
Moderate infestations may require minimal additional time, while extremely heavy infestations require significantly more time and labor. Fees are assessed at the time of service based on infestation severity, hair length, and density. The upper end of the range applies only to extremely heavy infestations.
Specialty Fee $50-$100
Includes mites, hair extensions, & any variant that may require an alternative treatment plan. Discuss your situation before your appointment. Not all variables are immediately treatable and may require action before an appointment. We may or may not be able to provide services.

Minimum Service Fee: $200 (Includes base treatment rate for the first person or up to 5 screenings starting at $150+ and the $50 in-home travel fee.)
Lice Treatment Time: Most treatments take approximately 30 Minutes to one hour per person. Actual service time may vary based on hair type and infestation level.
Lice Screening Time: Screenings typically take approximately 5-15 minutes per person. Actual service time may vary based on hair type
Hair Type & Infestation Level: Long, thick, curly hair or heavier infestations require additional service fees due to the extra care and attention needed.
Heat Treatment: Heat treatment may be added by request or at the technician’s discretion if deemed necessary, may incur an additional fee.
Travel Fee: The $50 travel fee is included in the $200 minimum service fee. In some areas, this fee may be waived, while in others an additional mileage fee may apply.
After-Hours / Emergency Fee: Appointments scheduled 5:00 PM or after for urgent same-day requests may incur an additional fee.
Holiday Fee: Appointments scheduled on major holidays may incur an additional fee.

Nit Picky® Lice Treatment Is Covered By Insurance
Head Lice Treatment is accepted by Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Use your card to make a payment and receive the benefit of being covered.
Head Lice Treatment may be covered under your Health Insurance. Typically, lice removal service is only covered by PPO insurance plans. Nit Picky does not accept insurance, the payment is an out-of-pocket cost. We can provide you with a receipt that includes a diagnosis code, allowing you to submit a request for insurance reimbursement.
Nit Picky does not verify services provided by insurance companies. We cannot guarantee reimbursement. Typically, FSA’s and HSA’s are the best insurance payment options, however, they can still require proof of a diagnosis code and receipt which can be provided.

30-Day Service Guarantee
Nit Picky guarantees the quality of our treatment service for up to 30 days from the date of the original appointment for all household family members who were screened and/or treated by Nit Picky during the original appointment. This guarantee applies only in the event of a service-related error and does not cover reinfestation or re-exposure after treatment.
30-Day Guarantee Requirements:
To qualify for the guarantee, all of the following must be met:
All family members in the household must receive a head lice screening by Nit Picky
Any family member who screens positive must receive a Head Lice Treatment by Nit Picky
Purchase of one (1) Nit Picky After Care Kit per household is required
Eradicate Oil must be left on the hair overnight as instructed
All technician aftercare and prevention instructions must be followed exactly
If lice or nits are found, a clear photo must be taken, and Nit Picky must be contacted immediately with what is observed in the hair for assessment and guidance.
What the Guarantee Covers
A return visit will be provided at no additional charge as a direct result of an error in the original Nit Picky treatment, provided all guarantee requirements are met.
Follow-Up Care & Normal Expectations
In all cases, the technician may recommend after-care as part of the treatment process. In some situations, a follow-up appointment may be recommended as part of the normal treatment process, based on hair type, infestation level, or household exposure risk. During the follow-up period, it is normal to occasionally find a bug or a few remaining nits. This does not mean that lice are reproducing, that the treatment failed, or that the home needs to be re-cleaned. It means the treatment and aftercare process is interrupting and stopping the lice life cycle, which is the goal of professional lice removal. Following aftercare and preventative care instructions is a critical part of long-term effectiveness.
Guarantee Void
The guarantee is void under the following circumstances:
The Nit Picky after-care kit was not purchased.
The aftercare and prevention protocol is not followed correctly.
Complimentary dry screenings do not qualify.
Lice are determined to be related to re-exposure or reinfestation, not the original service.
A technician-recommended follow-up appointment is not scheduled or completed.
Optional Follow-Up Appointments
Some families choose to schedule an additional follow-up appointment for peace of mind. We are always happy to help. Please note that severe, long-term, or difficult infestations may require additional appointments based on infestation severity, hair type, and household exposure factors.
*Lice Treatment Services are provided in the privacy of the client’s home, with technicians arriving discreetly in unmarked vehicles. In-Home appointments are based on availability and location. Services are priced per person. A minimum charge applies, which includes service and travel considerations. Additional service fees will be applied based on hair type or infestation level.
Nit Picky offers a 30-day service guarantee for household members screened and/or treated during the original appointment; terms and conditions apply. Moderate to heavy infestations may require additional appointments as part of the normal treatment process.
**Optional Add-On: Heat Application
For added effectiveness, Nit Picky offers an optional heat treatment, a unique dehydration process using a specially directed blow-dry technique. Warm air is applied at the root of the hair with an ionic blow dryer, where lice commonly lay eggs, to dehydrate and kill any underdeveloped nits (lice eggs) that may not be removed during standard combing. This step is ideal for more advanced infestations or as an extra layer of protection. While not required for every case, it’s a highly effective add-on for families seeking maximum peace of mind. Note: The heat process may not be suitable for all clients. It may be avoided for young children, individuals with sensitive scalps or open sores, or when appointment time is limited. Your technician will assess and determine if this add-on treatment is appropriate during your visit.
