After a failed at home lice treatment, a frustrated mother speaks up about lice and how she turned to a local company called Nit Picky to help. According to the company it is common to see lice outbreaks amongst school aged children. Nit Picky has shared some of their tips to help parents treat head lice successfully.
“These days’ lice seem to be a common child hood epidemic. You hear about other families experiencing head lice, although you think and hope that it never will happen to you. I was horrified when I found out that my family had been affected, explains Reid, a mother from San Diego.
Reid is not alone and neither are the other families who have contracted this human parasite. According to the Center for Disease Control an estimated 6-12 million children in America experience head lice every year. In San Diego County alone it is estimated that hundreds of families are currently experiencing or have experienced head lice within the past year according to a professional lice removal service called Nit Picky.
Reid explained how she called Nit Picky to treat her family after she had tried a lice shampoo from the store that she said, did not work. Karrigan, the founder of Nit Picky explained, “Lice happens, it is nothing to be ashamed of, it is hard to get rid of, but we can help.” According to Karrigan, families all over the country are having a difficult time getting rid of the parasite.
The company has been treating lice for over two years and continues to treat families throughout California, Oregon and Nevada. Nit Picky has shared a few key secrets for families who are currently in need of help.
-Use a metal comb.
-Do not depend on a lice shampoo alone, you must comb out all of the nits/eggs.
-Perform the treatment in natural sun light for the best results.
-Make sure everyone in the house is screened, then treated only if they have lice.
-Advise your friends and family about the infestation or it can pass back and forth.
Nit Picky recommends and uses non-toxic and natural lice products since over the counter lice shampoos contain pesticides and tend to fail. Although the company understands that many families use over the counterlice shampoos since they are recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Disease Control and are readily available in stores. Nit Picky does not recommend using lice shampoos.
Nit Picky is willing to assist families who need advice through their toll free hotline. Advice is free, services are available and non-toxic products are available online through their website.
